A queen-sized bed enhances the ambience of the master bedroom, located in the north-east corner. You will get a clear view of the southern half of the garden, the pool deck and one side of the pool hedge from each of the two north-side bedrooms. The south-side bedroom has a window on its north wall, which also gives you a partial view of the garden.
The frequently present North-East trade winds and Riviera's location close to the sea mean that breezes are frequently blowing through the building. For those occasions when the air is still you have a ceiling fan in each bedroom, and also in the living room.
Yes, we have considered air conditioning. The style of the windows makes it impossible to seal the house from major air leakage, so much of the time the air conditioners would helping to "cool the great outdoors". At the price of electricity in Jamaica, you would not like to help pay the price in the fee we would have to charge for installing air conditioners. Even on days when there are temperatures above 90 degrees (Fahrenheit -- 35+ Celsius), there is often a pleasant breeze going through the villa. Beyond the summer months, the daily high temperature will ususally be in the 80s (Far.), and in the winter months maximum temperatures in the 70s (Far.) are quite common.
Our decision to avoid air-conditioning is part of the basic positioning of Riviera Villa as a business. We focus on promoting the best possible person-to-person relations, an outstanding well-fenced garden, and sparkling pool water at your doorstep -- in other words, luxurious exterior ambience and great human relations. Inside the accent is on clean basic living facilities. This villa was built in the 1940s, and in the course of upgrading it from time to time we have stressed spending on security features over spending on the kind of luxury you will find at the villas built since the 1980s. If you need to be in one of those spanking new facilities then Riviera Villa will not suit you well (though you may like the price when you learn what those villas cost); but if you would like an 'old-fashion homey touch' in the midst of nature's beauty stretched over 1.5 acres of land, then Riviera Villa may be just right for you and your family.
